"Da Storm"

"Da Storm"

I da Storm
aint it beautiful how the storm steadily approaches
dark and lovely
and even though its above me......
i know the clouds are rich wit a message
i knowGod's blessings
and u might say i'm demented
but i think the whistling wind
is sexy the way it sashes
moving along with style and grace
like its in a ballroom dance hall
but i know it aint coming to dance off
or to "shake it fast"
and i can understand how the storm
might fill your veins up with a surge of fear
how it might pull u out ur mask
its the same feeling that holds u stiff and still
just at the glance of change

so here it is!

the folk scatter
boarding up their homes for a sense of security
storing up their belongings
like the rising water
is really coming after ur box of jewelry

i know the choas is intimidating
but disaster is all a interactive text book
and i cant help but to lean in close
to hear the words spin off the pages
or to squint
when revelation reflects off the peoples faces
and for the first time
the family comes together to embrace the baby
i cant help but to gaze into the eye of the storm
and watch Katrina push through walls
what arms do you take up when its nature at war?
the baddest b*tch
with the biggest balls
i got dis bucket that i sit out in the rain
so when the rain pours,
at least theres something to show for the storm

i'm like a jewel collecter
and though my neighbors dont see it how i see it
i put up no pressure......bust a pipe
pressure bust a levee
watch the hood scatter to survive
death is rampant and its heavy
on the waiting list for rescue
with rifles aimed and steady
babylon will send for relief
when dem bellys full and ready...
stop asking me dogg i dont know!!.....
but i know bout that storm
and how the firery furnance
got a way of pulling jewels out ur pores
man, i didnt know the mass of muscle
till i was wading through the struggle
feeling my way through a dark day
in a dark room
dey tell me change is supposed to come soon
some how
some way
but i wish they would just turn these lights on
i wish someone could explain the shadows
that keeping skipping across my living room wall

insanity is on the clearance rack and its at a low cost
i wish somebody would turn these lights on
but before you forget, remember that song
it goes - turn your lights on
santana say: "turn your lights on"
cause the doctor can say what he wants to say
but that dont mean you'll never walk again

cause according to his diagnosis,
you wasnt even supposed to feel your legs
but what does he know?
...the educated fool
dem xray sheets are just childish sketches
he had his intern draw up in the back room to give him something to do

i'm for real!
watch how quick he give your condition a name
watch how quick he prescribes u a drug
here it is!
doctor doctor aint nuttn but a d-boy in rubber gloves
i see whats going on
i aint stupid
cant nobody discern ur affliction
but the eyes from up above
he had to show u that u are more than a conquerer
thank God for his love
embrace the baby,
give dat child a hug
thank God for the rain
thank God for the storm

"and i can see clearly now the rain is gone..."

BIOGRAPHY

Caheej Bio

Herman "Caheej " Mcgloun is a native of the the Metro-Miami areas. He is a theatre-stage actor who has spent several years studying with the FIU Theater Program.

A few of his stage appearances includes playing the character of Othello in William Shakespeare's tragic tale, "Othello." He has also worked with Florida's first and oldest running African American theatre company, the M Ensemble, with whom his performance in Eric Wilson's, "Strands" has received a nomination for Best Ensemble Cast by the prestigious Carbonell Awards.

His latest film project would be playing the starring role of Mario in the controversial film, "Kidnappings." Caheej is also a spoken word artist who has been performing his poetry for over five years. His talent for evoking and galvanizing audiences has been recognized by renowned industry luminaries such as Umar Bin Hassan of the Last Poets and Bruce George, Talent Executive Producer for Russell Simmon's Def Poetry Jam.

In 2004, Caheej was awarded by the South Florida spoken word community and the E-Literary Group, the award of Best Poet of The Year. In 2005 he would also become the second place finalist for the Southern Fried Regional Slams. Check out what the local press has to say about Caheej's latest stage role in August Wilson's, "7 Guitars":

" .........(Caheej) lone bright spot in M Ensemble's recent staging of "Ceremonies in Dark Old Men" -- once again delivers a standout performance, this time as the leading man. He has a commanding presence, a strong voice and the kind of believability that makes the other actors on stage even better." - The Miami Herald
