"My Dichotomy"

The Wise Ones
Once told me that
If you can Deny
Indulges
Gluttony
Promiscuity
The Same Sex
The privilege of race
The playing of god
Hopelessness
Slavery
Evil
Abuse
Futility
Burning bridges
the Lies
Temptations
Frigidness
Crime
Pimps
Hierarchies
Puppet Masters
Selling Out
Arrogance
And much more

But Believe

The boy Dynamic

Rest for the ages

Sleeping when you are dead

Keeping your temple clean

That spirits, smoke and intercourse clear the mind

That many can sometimes decipher the papyrus of the mind

Cunning linguistics

The power of children for revolutionary change

Responsibility

The Freedom of Love

Unity

To be Optimistic

To destroy the Pessimistic

Mental Evolution

The concept of an eye for and eye

A tooth for a tooth

Last chances

Sobriety

The sanctity of Verbal Drums

Love conquers

That Hate can exist

The joy of two becoming one

Exploration

Perseverance

Dreams

Loose lips sink Ego ships

Friends should be kept close, enemies closer

Travels of the Mind

Everyone should have their own castle

That the concept of the question "Why" makes me

Supreme

Movements

That with words spoken, I can move mountains

Armed struggle and the might of Pens

That most will die without everyone knowing they lived

That Businessmen should fund revolutions

The power of Urban Soldiers

War and Conflict

Resolution

Poets as Leaders

That those that know, should pave the way

In Liberation and Redemption Songs

That Life is based on Choices

In knowing that just knowing,

is the key to everything

Then

y o u r  D i c h o t o m y

Shall be the Truth

Spoken

Guiding the path

For those that

Seek

Themselves

In the mirrors

- An actor, poet, and visionary in the spoken word community.

This master poetess steps to the stage commanding attention with her inferno performances and undeniable stage presence. Royalty has just walked in.

Internationally known Spoken Word recording artist Queen Sheba's patented emotional roller coaster performances make her a frequently requested feature performer. In addition to being a national venue holder Queen Sheba has opened for artists such as Amel Laurrieux, Blu Cantrell, The Roots, Jaheim during his "Just In Case" tour and most recently, Heather Headly.

Queen Sheba is a Spoken Word master lyricist that incorporates her poetry with an urban cultural influence to send a message that will provoke the mind. Her range of expression extends from the urban pulse of hip-hop to the cerebral, timeless rives of pure jazz. The Queen's poetic themes deal with everything from old slave spirituals, serious societal issues, revolution, love, life, and liberty of the human spirit.

A Detroit Native, now living in Norfolk, VA Queen Sheba is the first internationally known performance poet from Virginia. Her following has extended from the East Coast, across the country, to Canada, with demands to return to Europe. Since her debut CD, 'I Confess…' produced by Grammy Nominated producer Brian Sullivan, was released October 2001, over 2,000 copies were sold in the first four months. To date there are over 7,000 copies of 'I Confess…' in homes and radio stations around the country…and counting. Not even a year later the public demanded more. June 2002 CD release parties for the anxiously awaited sophomore project, 'The Message' was released in 6 cities across the country over the summer, including Miami, Philly, Baltimore and Norfolk. With Taalam Acey heading production and with the Queen's obvious growth as an artist, within 6 months 'The Message' has sold twice as many units as its predecessor during that time period and is closing in quickly.

Her national television appearances on both the historic Showtime at the Apollo amateur night segment February 2002, and 106th & Park's May 2002 segment (BET Television), The Poet's Joint and The Cypher's Corner has the Oya Xclusive tour management team continuously signing contracts for appearances.

Queen Sheba uses her English degree and love for poetry as a foundation for lectures/performances at colleges and universities across the country. Just to give you an idea on how powerful Queen Sheba's positive influence is one of the most notable events was when she was asked to be the Keynote Speaker for the National Take Back the Night Campaign at Hampton University in 2001. Take Back the Night is a national campaign that brings social awareness to communities concerning the affects of being raped and sexually abused. Although, she was unable to attend the event, the Take Back the Night committee was so moved by her work, Queen Sheba agreed to have some of her related poetry read during the ceremonies, awarding her a standing ovation for her sincere work for the betterment of all people.

As a slam champion, the Queen headed the 2002 DC/Baltimore National Slam team as their Grand Slam Champion. She has also belted wins at the Nuyorican Poet's Cafe and has taken slam champion titles at Reign Productions, and Baltimore's famous Art Scape summer festival, Los Angelos, San Diego and St. Louis National Slam qualifiers just to name a few. As an event planner she runs 2 venues on the east coast and features national and international poets. She currently took on the responsibility of Slam Master and coach for the newly established Norfolk/Hampton Roads, VA National slam team.

So, as you can see, she is a lot more than just a performance poet. She is definitely a star in her own right.
