Feature Poem Lyrics

"
CENTER OF ME"

I am totally lost,
I am trying to find my way back to the center
But which way do I go,
It seems that I keep doing the same things,
Repeating the same games,
And falling for all the wrong men.
But Lord, I'm coming to you
Please help me see through this frustration of not knowing my purpose and
Hold my hand and let me know that I am not worthless
But I am worthy of all praises of being a single mother
And help build the strength within me to know that I don't need a man
Take me to the ocean where I am totally free and have the ability to release
Hear my screams and cries of all the pain I experience from day to day
But still, I appeared here with this mask on my face
Yeah this smile is the opposite of how I really feel on a daily basis
Just not being real but I guess that's the women in me
I smile when I want to cry,
I laugh when I want to scream,
However, I just really want to be me
And scream like Kelis,
" I HATE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW"
Then breath and release.
Or just fold like a delicate butterfly
And soar off into the skies because now, I am free
Free from the daily tribulations and demons that try to come at me.
Free from the fists that constantly pounded on me.
Free from laying down with him then getting up feeling totally at blame.
Free from the lies, the hurts, and the shames.
But I guess that's it.
Am I really free......
Because at night when I lay down
I found myself taking that route down memory lane
And here comes all the demons again
The constant headache of wondering where has he been
And why is it that when I call him, he leaves me blowing in the wind.
But I guess when it comes down to it,
I am the one fooling me,
Instead of trying to love this brother and heal the world
I should be loving and healing only me.
I guess that's why in my dreams
I am being held down and I'm really not free.
So which way do I go, which route should I seek.
Maybe I should take that road and that route that leads back to the center of me.
" MY SPIRITUALITY"
See, because if I know who I be and what live's down within me
Then there is absolutely no way I or you can fool me.
So I guess that is the key.
Whenever I wake up in the morning and I'm not quit feeling like myself,
Then I must come back to the center of me.
GOD~US, God is first then there's us.

" We all tell stories about what we’ve endured as a way to celebrate our triumph over adversity, and to encourage each other to believe in better days. We know, too, that sharing our delight in the wonderful things that happen to us lifts our own hearts and inspires others. The stories you will read in this book have been contributed by men and women from all over the world. I share them for the purpose of connecting us all to the truth that every day we experience grace and miracles. We need only to look closely and listen carefully to see the hand of God and hear the voice of God in our lives. When we learn to tune into the presence of God, our hearts are open and our lives are full of joy." Lorna Owens

Imagine, as you read, that you are joining with the many thousands of others who are reading this book as well. Know that we are gathered together in this shared experience of passing on stories in our own voice. I hope this book will encourage you to share your stories of grace and miracles in ever-widening circles, and that perhaps you will pass along the stories in this book to support someone else.

Chapter 6: Making the Connection
Title: Out of Darkness, Must Shine Light

Here to another day in hell and I wonder why God dealt me this hand. It almost like I was meant to fail. But not me, I am going to keep fighting. Yeah, that’s what I’ll do keep fighting.

It started roughly twenty-one years ago, the day my life would change forever. It was a beautiful day in November, my siblings and I played out in the yard with our big wheels like we always did on a day like this. As the sun begin to set, my mother prepared us for bed, as she did each and every night. However, this night will be the last night of her life. The last time my mother would every have a chance to be able to kiss her kids goodnight. That night I would lose my mother to a domestic rage.
